Hayder A. Ali Architects & Building Consultants was founded in 1984 by Sudanese architect Hayder Ali. Practicing for more than 40 years the practice has become a leader in architectural design in Sudan and East Africa and now employs more than 40 people operating in different parts of the country.
The firm's principles are informed by a passion for understanding each project’s unique functional program requirements and contextual responsiveness. In harmony with the tradition of bold geometry and formal clarity, our designs aim to manifest a modern sensibility deeply rooted in tradition. In each project scale, Hayder A. Ali Architects design for the individual experience.
The firm offers services in architectural design, master planning, project supervisions and strategic planning.
Clients include the Sudan National Library, US Embassy in Sudan, Saudi Sudanese Bank, Sudanese Football Association, World Food Program and the Central Bank of South Sudan. In addition, the firm has created numerous institutional buildings for the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation, Ministry of Public Welfare and Ahfad University for Women. Hayder A. Ali architects was recently awarded the AIA International Design Award for the design of the White Nile Primary School.
Hayder A. Ali - Bio
Following three years of architectural apprenticeship in Khartoum, Hayder Ali Hon.FAIA founded a sole proprietorship in 1982 overlapped with five years of teaching architecture at the National Polytechnic University (now Sudan University of Science & Technology). Over the next 3 decades, Hayder A. Ali Architects & Building Consultants grew into one of the largest architectural practices in Sudan with projects and influence extending across the African continent.
Hayder A. Ali is an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Former. Mr. Ali has served as the Secretary General of the Sudanese Institute of Architects. He continued with intensive international involvement as he was the elected Africa representative to the International Forum of Young Architects, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Association of Consultancy Firms, and he served as Council Member of the African Union of Architects for three triennial terms. In 2008, Hayder Ali was elected as a Council Member to the International Union of Architects (UIA), and served as the UIA as Vice President, Region V (Africa) in a second triennial term after being elected by unanimous decision in 2010.
