saudi sudanese bank Branch

Khartoum, Sudan Completed 2009

The Saudi Sudanese bank is an old established institution, and in a bid to rejuvenate their brand they commissioned Hayder A. Ali architects to design their branches around the city of Khartoum. Hayder A. Ali architects was tasked with designing their newest branch, in a prime location in Khartoum. The project required partial demolition of an existing building and the addition of new facilities. This presented a serious challenge for Hayder A. Ali architects who stressed the importance of preserving components of the original existing building while incorporating the required elements for the program to succeed.

Hayder A. Ali architects transformed the inside of the building by removing interior walls in favor of a modern open plan office. Wall openings and the subtle use of lighting were used to demarcate interior spaces. A void between the two floors fills the central lobby with natural light and creates a pleasing environment for waiting clients
